Mom, Me, and Trey - yes I am aware that I look like a big banana in my yellow shirt but at this point it is the only thing comfortable.
My birthday was on Monday and it was a great day. My Mom even drove in to take me to lunch. We ended up talking her into to spending the night. Trey surprised me by inviting some of our friends to dinner and we enjoyed an evening on the town. We have just a few more days before Mollie joins our family...we are all ready to meet her and start the next chapter in the Carlile house.

old...maybe even responsible?
Are we old or what? When I was a kid on Saturdays we used to get up and do chores around the house. It was just a fact of life and to go without being said. Basically we all just did it and knew that when everything was done we could do whatever. So yesterday this is what we found ourselves doing.
8am got up and ate breakfast
8:30 - Maddie and I start cleaning house and Trey begins mowing the yard
10 am - Finish cleaning the house (bathrooms, floor, dust, and glass) the real works
10:30 - Trey still finishing yard and we clean the patio off
11 am - Family time washing cars
12 pm- clean up
Can you believe it? We cleaned house, mowed the yard, washed cars all in just a few hours. The beauty of it all was that we did not have any reason to do this we just did. No company coming over, no major event planned, or not even because the house was a total disaster. So needless to say I was really proud of us and might I add that it looked great! Maddie was an awesome helper too. We couldn't have done it all with her.

tunnel vision
Some good news today!
I went to the Dr. today for my 38 week check up and she said I am steadily progressing...yea! I am now at 2cm, only 8 more to go. I talked to her about some of the emotions and feelings I have been going through and she was really caring and helpful. All in all it was a good visit. I have been pretty worried about what I will do when I actually go into labor. I have a whole list of contention plans for little Miss Maddie, but really I am just nervous about it. Trey could be out of town on business, Maddie might be napping, or who knows what else we could be up to. My Mom and Dad said that they would be responsible for our little angel but they live 2 hours away so it would take some time before they could get here and no one ever really knows how much time anyone will have. I voiced this concern today and my Dr. went ahead and scheduled an induction for July 29th. This way I can plan accordingly. Yes, I realize she could still come early, and I am praying she still may. However, it is like a load has been taken off my shoulders. It is so hard to express all the emotions I have had the last week especially with Maddie. I am sure they are all natural it is just overwhelming because Maddie has been the center of my world for 3.5 years and now we are all going to have to adjust. I know inside it will all be wonderful and our family will be complete when Mollie gets here it is just a lot to take in. At least now there is a definite light at the end of the tunnel or maybe better yet the beginning of a new chapter is upon us!

Diaper cake anyone?
So this week I was faced with a challenge. A wonderful friend of mine was having a "sip-n-see" for her new daughter. We didn't get to have a regular baby shower before her little blessing arrived so this is the next best thing. I was lucky to be a part of hosting this event and in the planning I volunteered to bring a diaper cake. For those of you who may not know what that is it is usually used as a centerpiece and it resembles a wedding cake except that it is made of diapers. Crazy, yes, I know but they are really cute. I had no idea of how to make one, where to start, or what to do. Thus, leaving me with a whole lot of diapers, some ribbon, and a mixture of supplies. 3 hours later, a roll of tape, a lot of frustration, and a tad bit of ingenius this was my finished product. I was so excited that I actually succeeded and it at least resembled something of a diaper cake. What do you think? I am not planning on quiting my day job to go into business making these full time but I was pleased with my efforts.

injustice at the dr.'s office
***NOTE*** This post contains crazy ramblings of an insane pregnant person who just wants her body and mind back, cool weather again, and some good painless sleep. None of which will probably take place anytime soon. Take no offense, expect nothing, and prepare to probably be less intelligent and more confused if you take the chance of reading this.
I had another Dr.'s appointment today for my 36 week check up. As usual I arrived about 5 min. early and as usual they didn't call me back for about 35 min. I don't know why I even attempt to come early to these visits. I have some how or another convinced myself time after time that this appointment will be different and they will surely get me in and out in no time. This is even after my inaugural visit in December when I was there for almost 3 hours! For those of you who have never had the pleasant experience of visiting the ob/gyn when you are pregnant a typical visit consists of weighing, peeing in a cup, listen to the heart beat, measure your "beach ball" and pay your bill. All of this, in our case, adding up to about 5 min of actual interaction which would calculate into $28/minute fee. (If you are still choosing a profession this might be the one for you because as you can tell it definitely moneys out for the doctor) When leaving the doctor's office finally today, only 1 hour and 10 minutes later I concluded I had made a huge mistake. Here I chose to teach kiddos whereas I could just bring them into the world and make the same lasting impact on their lives as teachers do and make more money at the same time. Whereas instead of making the rough $28 a day that I make as a teacher I could be multiplying my income immeasurably. All of this makes sense to everyone out there, right? Maybe it is just that I wish the Dr.'s office would value my time as much as theirs. Who are they to think just because you have an appointment for a set time that you have the entire day to spend at their dispense. I think we should charge something that would work like interest after a designated time period has lapsed. As you can tell I have invested way to much time thinking about this. My crazy brain is ready to be normal and non-hormonal as is my husband as well. All in all the visit was good. I am 1 cm down and 9 more to go, 60% effaced and head down, which is a relief because at one time Miss Mollie was breach. The Dr. guessed she probably weighs around 6 lbs right now and there is a good chance we won't make it all the way to our due date. However, I am not going to get my hopes up for I know just like these Dr.'s appointments that never happen at the scheduled time little miss Mollie will probably not do what is scheduled either. As long as she is healthy this will all be a mere memory before I know it.
